Truro is a town in Nova Scotia that was once known as the centre of revival. The beautiful town is known and called the hub of Nova Scotia because it is at the Center of the province, likewise it has been in the center of God’s agenda to have a parish of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG). This town is about an hour drive from Halifax where we have the closest parish of the church, for many years about three families Oshikoya’s, Akinsiku’s and Esan’s (with the Adebowale family who joined them immediately after the pandemic) drove an hour every Sunday to fellowship in our parishes in Halifax.
In the fulness of time God laid it in the heart of Pastor Simon Fagbile and his wife Pastor Juliet (current Pastor-in-charge of Atlantic Zone 2) to start the work in Truro. Although, this has been a long-time vision in their heart. As a matter of fact, when I met him in 2016 the first thing, he mentioned was how he desired a parish of the church in Truro. The work began with a little seed in the ground through daily prayer walk around the town and many spiritual mappings.
Many attempts were made to start the work fully pre-covid but when the time came God open door of favour to Truro and He sent some more families, students and professionals to the land and put in their heart, a willingness and desire to start the work in Truro and by divine connection and by His own power God connected all of us with Pastor and Pastor Mrs. Fagbile and grace was made available to start.
The church started with an online fellowship over the Zoom before transitioning into a physical meeting where we met at the community center and hall of St David United church before relocating to 266 Pictou Road Bible Hill and now to our current location at 246 - 248 Pictou Road, Bible Hill. God made financial provision for establishing the physical church; rental and equipment were gracefully through RCCG Restoration Sanctuary Halifax and several individuals.
On the 10 th of July 2022 RCCG Open Door Sanctuary held her first service at 266 Pictou Road, Bible Hill, in support of the new church the brethren from RCCG Restoration Sanctuary Halifax organised an evangelic outreach themed “Light up Truro” on July 24, 2022, at a Victoria Park Truro. God has been faithful He has increased His church on every sides. This first service was officiated by Pastor Simeon Fagbile supported by his wife and a number delegate from RCCG Restoration chapel Halifax.
RCCG Open Door Sanctuary is a multicultural church located at 246 - 248 Pictou Road Bible Hill. In a fallen world, we are challenged by the Word of God to make known the hope and the love of God to all people.
We make Jesus real in our lives and show forth the power and glory that comes from knowing an Awesome God. We are a church where the grace of God abounds allowing us to exalt His holy name through generous and extravagant praise, worship, and prevailing prayer.
Our community is richly diverse, with people of different ages and backgrounds and coming together to worship and serve together. We welcome all individuals seeking God’s love and our doors are open to every soul seeking to welcome Jesus into their heart.
